Summary: "I'm a terrible father."

"I'm a terrible father."
"Yes."
"What?!"
"I was just seeing if this was one of those conversations where it doesn't matter what I say."
"And that's how you chose to test it?"
"I got my answer."
"Can we focus, please?"
"Sure. Why are you a terrible father?"
"My daughter wanted a bedtime story."
"Matt, did you deny the child a fairytale?"
"This isn't funny. I couldn't think of anything."
"Ahhh."
"Yeah. I can make the country laugh but when it's my kid I can't even think of a story?"
"Four-year-olds aren't usually your target audience."
"The show's carried in Texas."
"See, it's stuff like that that makes everyone think we're elitist jackasses."
"We are elitist jackasses."
"Don't you have writing to do?"
"I can't. My failure is chasing me throughout my daily activities."
"What exactly happened?"
"I choked. My mind was a complete blank. Harri had to step in and sing her to sleep."
"So the kid still managed to get to sleep on time and had the attention of both her parents?"
"Yeah."
"What exactly is the problem then?"
"You suck at this."
"Yeah, well, I stopped listening five minutes ago."
"How you ever got Jordan to marry you is a mystery."
"My kid isn't the one without a bedtime story."
"I'm a failure."
"Is there any point to me telling you how ridiculous this conversation is?"
"No."
"I didn't think so. Stop trying to make up your own stories."
"I'm a writer."
"Not for this. Read the kid some Dr. Seuss."
"Fine."
"You know, rumor has it we both have jobs. Maybe you should try doing yours now."
